R-22

Beta II

The R-22 Beta II helicopter is the most widely used piston two-seater helicopter on the global market. It has gained popularity due to its reliability, maneuverability, responsive handling, as well as its affordable price and low operating costs.

The R-22 Beta II is of all-metal construction, with a single two-blade main rotor and a single two-blade tail rotor. The crew sits side by side. The aircraft is equipped with fixed (non-retractable) skid landing gear. It is powered by a single Lycoming O-360-J2A engine.

The R-22 helicopter is most commonly used for pilot training, tourism, observation flights (power line patrols, transmission line inspections), as well as for cattle herding and hunting purposes (aerial shooting).

More information

Characteristics:

Engine Type: Lycoming O-360, four-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted
Power: Reduced power of 131 horsepower for takeoff and 124 horsepower in cruise mode
Maximum Takeoff Weight: 622 kg
Cruise Speed: up to 178 km/h
Maximum Range (without reserve): approximately 483 km

  • Reliable Engine: The Lycoming O-360 engine has a reduced power output of 131 horsepower for takeoff and 124 horsepower in cruise mode at 2562 RPM. This ensures the engine's long-term and unmatched durability.
  • Clutch Tension Mechanism: Facilitates engine starting and prevents overspeeding.
  • Carburetor Preheating: Automatic carburetor preheating facilitates pilot operation depending on the collective control position.
  • Throttle Governor: Precisely designed, it monitors engine RPM and automatically adjusts the fuel flow for optimal engine RPM.
  • Centrally Located "T" Collective Lever: Allows easy entry and exit from the helicopter cockpit. The left part of the collective lever is detachable.
  • Three-Blade Suspension: Eliminates blade lag, dampening, and droop. Stainless steel leading edges of the rotor resist dust and rain.
  • Rotor Brake: Allows the pilot to quickly stop the rotor, significantly reducing stopping time and the risk of injury to ground personnel.
  • Cabin Ventilation Doors: Provide fresh air supply for the pilot and passengers.
  • Voice-Controlled Internal Communication: Replaces switches located on the floor and control sticks.
  • Simple Ground Handling: The low weight of the empty aircraft and castering wheels allow easy ground handling by a single person. An electric handling trolley can also be used.
  • Storage Space: Both seats provide storage space for bags, briefcases, supplies, and other items.
  • Maintenance: Simplified by requiring only a check after every 50 flight hours between 100-hour inspections.
  • General Repair Time: If the helicopter is properly maintained, the airframe and engine have an interval for general repair set at 2200 flight hours or 12 years. All long-term components have a recognized service life of at least 2200 flight hours or 12 years.
  • Service Centers: Technicians trained by Robinson are available at over 400 accredited service centers worldwide.
  • Warranty Period: All helicopters come with a two-year warranty or a warranty for 1000 flight hours.
